He has trained extensively in various aspects of haematology. He has broad ranging expertise in both benign and malignant haematology with special interest in diagnosis and management of anaemias, clotting disorders, full blood count abnormalities, plasma cell disorders, myeloid and lymphoid disorders.
He holds public appointment at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre where he is the disease group lead for acute leukemia and myelodysplastic syndromes. His private appointment is at Melbourne Private Hospital.
Dr Bajel is a member of professional organisations including Haematological Society of Australia and New Zealand, Australasian Leukemia and Lymphoma Group, American Society of Hematology and American Society of Transplant and Cellular therapy.
He is actively involved in clinical research as a principal investigator and associate investigator in multiple early and late phase clinical trials exploring novels therapies in haematological disorders. He has presented at national and international meetings.
